Jodi Cole is in her 18th year as the Executive Secretary at Vanlue Local School in Hancock County. Her duties include taking care of all secretarial duties for a K-12 building as well as serving as the secretary to the superintendent. For the last two years, Jodi has been tasked with taking on all EMIS duties and responsibilities.
She began this journey unexpectedly in July 2008. After earning a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music Education from the University of Toledo, Jodi was the Choir Director/Assistant Band Director in the Margaretta Local Schools in Erie County from 2005-2007. She left that position to follow her husband, Peter, to Carey, Ohio when he became the High School Principal at Carey High School in July of 2007. Jodi took a year off to raise their son, Sam, and to work as a substitute teacher in several districts surrounding Carey before being presented with the opportunity to serve education in another capacity at Vanlue. Over the last 17 years, Jodi has seen many different faces and issues come through her office door, each requiring a different style of response. This has taught her many lessons in how to effectively deal with varying situations as well as how to incorporate compassion, self-control, empathy, humor, and a positive outlook into her daily duties. Jodi lives in Carey with her husband Peter, BGSU freshman son Samuel and 8th grade daughter Piper,
